Chiropractic Care

As a chiropractor I provide traditional spinal and extremity joint manipultaion with physio-therapy. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. My office offers Palmer type adjustments, Thompson Drop Table, High Low Table, Roller beds, Interferntial Current Therapy, and Laser (infrared and near infrared light therapy).  As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Mike Dawson has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.

Spinal Decompression

If you are suffering from herniated disc(s) and have not found relief from other treatments, you might be a candidate for spinal decompression. I encourage you to explore safe and effective spinal decompression therapy before agreeing to spinal surgery. Spinal decompression is a non-surgical, traction based treatment for herniated, protruded, or bulging discs in the lower back or neck. Patients with back pain, neck pain, and leg pain, caused by degenerated or damaged discs may be helped with spinal decompression.

Specific conditions that may be helped by spinal decompression include herniated or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, spondylosis, and even failed back surgery syndrome. Many patients with MRI documented disc protrusions have achieved "good" or "excellent" results after spinal decompression therapy.

The Trinitron DTS device utilizes a computerized traction head for effectiveness of treatment. The programmed patterns for ramping up and down the axial distraction permit decompression to occur at the disc level. This creates negative pressure within the disc, allowing the protruded or herniated portion to be retracted within the normal area of the disc. The pull patterns are cyclic; pulling at 100% of set weight for 30 seconds then at 40% for 20 seconds, this pumping of the disc is called imbibation and allows healing nutrients to infuse the disc.

Your specific treatment plan will be determined by Mike Dawson, DC, after examination, review of X-rays or MRI findings. Based on research and our offices clinical expertise, the best results have been achieved with 12-20 sessions over a four to eight week period. The cost for decompression is not covered by insurance and is $75 per session. Please call our office for a complimentary spinal decompression consultation.

Corrective Exercises

At Community Chiropractic Group, we teach our patients how to perform special "⁞blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

Lifestyle Advice

Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.

  • An Apple a Day . . .

What is so good about an apple? Is it the color, ranging from ruby red to pale pink? Is it the crunch? The sweetness? Or is it, instead, a combination of all of these qualities, plus the natural goodness derived from the apple's secret ingredients — phytonutrients? If this were a multiple choice quiz, the answer would be "all of the above". Importantly, in addition to possessing numerous appealing physical qualities, apples contain an abundance of health-promoting biochemicals known as phytonutrients.1,2 These specific organic molecules are derived not only from apples but many other fresh fruits and vegetables, and help power the immune system, protect against cancer, maintain healthy eyes, and assist cells in clearing out metabolic waste products such as free radicals. ...
